What is the difference between a dash cam and an MDVR? Great question!
While both car DVR dashcams and MDVRs (Mobile Digital Video Recorders) are used to record video footage in vehicles, the function and application of dash camera and mobile DVR are difference.
Dashcams are typically small cameras mounted on the dashboard or windshield of a vehicle that are primarily used to view the road ahead and record video. Dual-lens dashcams can see the road ahead and behind the vehicle at the same time. They are usually powered by the vehicle's battery and storage via TF card.
On the other hand, MDVR is more powerful and feature-rich road monitoring systems designed for commercial vehicles such as buses, trucks, and trailers. MDVRs can support multiple cameras inside and outside the vehicle and store footage on SD cards or SSDs. Mobile DVRs also include additional features such as GPS tracking, G-sensors for detecting sudden motion, and remote monitoring and fleet management.
